What is the relationship between our environment and our identity? How do we transcend the vagueness and disorientation of our american selves as defined by a fragmented media culture, and reimagine a meaningful relationship with those around us? Waegook Express fuses dream, myth, history, and science to explore layers of identity and transformation in a globalized, multinational, multi-ideological world. The work employs physical characterization and spoken word to take the audience on a darkly humorous journey from the Pacific Northwest to South Korea, where one man’s preoccupation with exoticism leads to a bold decision to redefine himself.
